2019 Dodge Journey SUV Features and Specs
If you want an affordable, comfortable, practical and spacious SUV for transporting up to seven people around, you’re probably going to struggle to find a more affordable one than the Dodge Journey. This midsize crossover SUV has been with us for a decade now, so let’s take a look at the 2019 Dodge Journey and see what these Dodge SUVs have to offer today.
The Journey is still in its first generation so the look of the midsize SUV is going to be pretty familiar by now. Although the exterior styling hasn’t changed a great deal over the years, Dodge has an impressive track record of creating designs that stand the test of time, and this is clearly one of them. If you like the idea of an SUV that looks rugged, a little macho, and able to handle any terrain you throw at it, but know you’re never going to go off-road and you don’t want to pay for all those off-road features you’re never going to use, the Journey is the vehicle for you.
There’s nothing over-complicated about the Dodge SUV, and the impressive simplicity begins with the trim levels. There’s three to choose from, which for a vehicle like this seems just about right. The entry model was the Journey SE, the top-of-the-range model was the Journey GT, and in the middle was the Journey Crossroad. Now we have another, even more affordable model added to the start of the lineup, which is the SE Value Package.
The Journey base engine is a 2.4-liter inline-four that develops 173 horsepower and 166 lb.-ft. of torque, which is sent to the front or all four wheels through an automatic transmission. This unit is fine if you’re not going to be loading the Journey up with passengers and cargo to its impressive capacity, but if you are, you’ll probably want to go for the more powerful option.
A 3.6-liter V-6 is an option for all models apart from the GT, which gets the V-6 as part of its standard equipment. This unit puts out 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, and it sends that power to the front or all four wheels through a standard six-speed automatic transmission.
There’s an impressive 123.7 cu.-ft. of passenger volume inside the 2019 Dodge Journey, which translates to 40.8 inches of legroom in the front, 36.1 inches in the second row and 23.4 inches in the third row. With all three rows in place, there’s 10.7 cu.-ft. of cargo space behind, but with the second and third-rows folded that increases to 67.6 cu.-ft.
Features and equipment
The SE Value Package comes standard with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, a six-speaker audio system, a second-row 40/60 tilt and slide seat, dual-zone temperature control, front and rear 12-volt power outlets and a remote USB port.
Crossroad models look like a great buy as they come standard with features like unpainted body cladding, leather upholstery, a power driver seat, 19-inch alloys wheels, satellite radio, and the 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect 3 infotainment system with voice command and Bluetooth connectivity.
